In this guide
Terres d'Amanar is an outdoor adventure park and eco-lodge near Tahanaout, about 35–40 km (45–60 minutes) south of Marrakech in the Atlas foothills. It has four ziplines (the longest about 430 m), a rope bridge, treetop courses, mountain biking and horse riding. Zipline entry is around 250 MAD per person; full-day packages with transport and lunch run roughly 600–1,200 MAD. The main zipline course is for ages 12 and up.
What and where is Terres d'Amanar?
Terres d'Amanar sits on a wooded hillside at about 1,200 m altitude, on a 120-hectare estate near the village of Tahanaout, on the road towards Asni and Imlil. It combines a small eco-lodge with tents and bungalows, a restaurant, a pool and a set of outdoor activities built into the slopes. On clear days you look straight across to the High Atlas. The last stretch of road is unpaved but fine for a normal car, and most packages include hotel pickup in Marrakech.
Activities at the park
- Ziplines (tyroliennes): four lines across the valley, the longest about 430 m, reaching speeds that feel fast but not extreme.
- Suspended rope bridge: a wobbly crossing high above the ravine.
- Accrobranche: treetop rope courses with graded difficulty, from easy nets to harder aerial sections.
- Kids' course: a lower circuit for younger children, usually 30–60 minutes.
- Mountain biking: off-road trails around the estate and nearby villages.
- Horse riding and hiking: guided outings through the foothills.
- Pool and restaurant: a good way to spend the hot part of the day.

Age, weight and fitness rules
The main zipline circuit usually requires participants to be 12 or older, with a typical weight limit around 110–120 kg. Younger children use the kids' accro park instead. You need to walk between platforms on sloping paths, so a basic level of fitness helps. Closed shoes are required; wear trousers or shorts that do not bunch under a harness. Staff give a safety briefing and clip you in; on most lines you are double-attached the whole time.
Getting there from Marrakech
The drive takes 45–60 minutes via the Route d'Amizmiz or the road towards Tahanaout, depending on where you are staying. Taxis can drop you, but arranging a return is harder, so a private driver or a package with transport is easier. A full day at the park, including the drive, typically lasts 6–8 hours door to door.
Is it worth it?
Honestly, it depends on who you are travelling with. For teenagers, active couples and groups of friends, the ziplines and the setting make a very good day out of the city heat. If you have already done big zipline parks in the Alps or Costa Rica, the lines here will feel modest; the draw is the Atlas scenery and the relaxed lodge atmosphere rather than record-breaking length or speed.
When to go
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most comfortable, with mild temperatures and green hills in spring. Summer is fine in the morning, but platforms in full sun get hot by early afternoon, so plan the ziplines first and the pool later. In winter, mornings can be cold at 1,200 m, around 5–10°C, and snow on the Atlas makes a beautiful backdrop.
Ziplines or paragliding?
Some guests ask us which is the better “flying” experience. Ziplines are short, fast and social, good for groups and teenagers. Paragliding is slower, higher and much more of a view: 10–25 minutes floating over the lake and desert with a pilot. Our tandem paragliding flight in the Atlas foothills is from €90 per person, with free pickup in Marrakech, and runs from a nearby part of the same foothills. Combining the day
Because Terres d'Amanar is on the way to the High Atlas, it is easy to combine with other stops. Some ideas:
- Saturday: start with the weekly market in Asni, 20 minutes further up the road; our guide to the Asni Saturday souk explains what to expect.
- Morning flight, afternoon park: paraglide early near Lalla Takerkoust, then zipline after lunch.
- Riding: if you would like a longer ride in the foothills, see our guide to horse riding around Marrakech.
Our private driver option makes this kind of flexible day simple, and you can see all our outdoor ideas on the adventure activities page.
A sample day at the park
- 09:00: pickup from your riad or hotel in Marrakech.
- 10:00: arrival, check-in and harness fitting.
- 10:30–12:30: the zipline circuit and rope bridge while it is still cool.
- 13:00: lunch at the restaurant, usually tagine, salads and fruit.
- 14:30–16:00: pool time, a short hike or mountain bike loop, or the kids' course for younger children.
- 16:30–17:30: drive back to Marrakech.
A family with teenagers can easily fill the day; couples who only want the ziplines may be ready to leave after lunch. Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and a refillable water bottle, and wear sports shoes rather than sandals. Lockers are limited, so leave valuables at your hotel. If someone in your group is afraid of heights, they can still enjoy the walks, the pool and the view from the terrace while the others fly across the valley.
