A 4-day loop from Marrakech: Aït Benhaddou, Skoura, Dades and Todra gorges, a camel trek and camp night in Merzouga, Rissani market and the Draa Valley on the way back.
This 4-day, 3-night loop leaves Marrakech over the High Atlas, crosses the Valley of Roses and the Dades and Todra gorges to the Merzouga dunes, and returns by a different road through Rissani, N'Kob and the Draa Valley. It gives you a night in the desert without the rushed 10-hour return of the 3-day version.
Most short desert tours drive to Merzouga and come back the same way. We prefer a loop: the outward road follows the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and the gorges, and the return goes south through the Anti-Atlas and the Draa Valley, so you see new landscapes every day. The extra day also means shorter drives (5–7 hours) and more time out of the car in villages, markets and palm groves.
Night 1 is in a kasbah hotel in the Dades Valley, night 2 in a desert camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, and night 3 in a kasbah or riad in the Draa Valley. All include dinner and breakfast. We use family-run places we know well, and we tell you in advance whether camp bathrooms are shared or private.
March to May and October to November have warm days and comfortable nights. Winter brings cold desert nights (0–5°C) but clear skies; summer is very hot in the south, so we adjust timings and add pool stops where possible.
